April Jazz: Jukka Linkola The Tentet,Sellosali, espoo21.4. At 19:00

29 years have passed since the debut album of the composer, pianist and conductor Jukka Linkola's ensemble The Tentet. Linkola is celebrating his 50-year anniversary as an artist. In 2021, the band returned to the concert stages after a long break and with a new line-up. Their new album Rumba Liberte will be released this spring.
The Tentet's music alternates between forward moving rhythmic swing and balladic elements, combining the expressiveness of a large ensemble timbres with the sensitivity of a small jazz group.
Composer-artist professor Jukka Linkola is one of Finland's most distinguished music makers. In addition to jazz projects, Linkola's composition output includes a symphony, 15 concertos, 13 operas, chamber music and several musicals. Linkola's choral music is constantly performed in different parts of the world. Jazzliitto awarded Linkola the Yrjö award already in 1979, and in 1997 his band EQ won the Jazz-Emma of the year. Linkola has won many international composition competitions, e.g. Le Havre city composition competition, Paris Opera Screen and Cannes Midem Awards. He has received two Jussi awards for his film scores.
