Jazz Finland Live

Lounaskonsertti: UMO Helsinki Ensemble – Tribuutti John Coltranelle,Savoy-teatteri, helsinki11.4. At 12:00

In this lunch concert, UMO Helsinki Ensemble pays tribute to the saxophone legend John Coltrane (1926-1967).

John Coltrane renewed jazz as a saxophonist and a small band composer. Generations after generations of jazz lovers find his compositions, many of which have become true jazz classics, such as Naima.

The concert program is planned by UMO’s tenor saxophonist and masterful Coltrane interpreter Manuel Dunkel, whose ensemble plays music from Trane’s albums from Blue Train to Crescent. The audience will also hear less frequently heard compositions such as Fifth House.

UMO Helsinki Ensemble is a one-off, ensemble-sized line-up formed by musicians known both from UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and numerous other jazz bands and projects. In this concert, UMO’s musicians meet the newcomers of the younger generation.
