Lenni-Kalle Taipale performed at the April Jazz for the first time with his trio 25 years ago. During his impressive artistic career, he has played alongside countless Finnish star performers and appeared on many popular TV shows such as The Voice of Finland. Celebrating Lenni-Kalle’s 25-year career as an artist, the closing concert of April Jazzi will feature songs familiar from his solo albums. In the hands of a special line-up the songs will go through a fusion whirlpool. Lenni-Kalle will be accompanied by the band Törkypojat and saxophonist Jukka Perko, who’s honors include e.g. the Finnish jazz musician of the year - Yrjö Prize – and the jazz-Emma Award for the jazz album of the year.

Pianist Aki Rissanen is one of the hottest Finnish jazz musicians today. The April Jazz concert celebrates Rissanen’s solo album Divided Horizon, released in summer 2021. In addition to the grand piano, Rissanen will play the Omniwerk, a combination of two historical keyboard instruments: viola organista, a stringed instrument invented by Leonardo da Vinci, and the Baroque lute known as lautenwerk. Omniwerk is the only one of its kind in the world and has never been played in a jazz concert before.
