Renowned saxophonist Sylvain Rifflet, one of the most acclaimed figures in the French jazz scene, brings his quartet to Finland, featuring Finland's trumpet star Verneri Pohjola. In the Finnish concerts, Rifflet's compositions dedicated to his "iconic angels" will be performed. The songs in the "Aux Anges" program draw inspiration from American modernists such as Steve Reich, Terry Riley, and Philip Glass, singer-activist Abbey Lincoln, writer James Baldwin, and director Claude Sautet.

"Cake Walk from a Spaceship" is a composition dedicated to Verneri Pohjola and the title of the album released in Finland by Eclipse Records in spring 2022. Award-winning trumpeter-composer Verneri Pohjola has developed a unique playing style over the past twenty years, instantly recognizable by its warmth, calmness, and expressive improvisation. With composer Kaija Saariaho's HUSH trumpet concerto premiered in August 2023, Pohjola's musicianship has reached an even wider audience.
