The music of the Riitta Paakki Quartet exudes a mature vision and a bright attitude. The irresistibly effortless swing, originating from the very roots of jazz, seamlessly blends into Riitta Paakki's compositions with northern hues. With her quartet, Riitta Paakki has released two albums, the most recent being Piste in 2020.

The Yrjö Award-winning pianist Paakki has long been part of the elite group of musicians drawing from the American bop tradition, and on her latest album, she also reflects the evolution of other jazz styles in a fresh way. In Paakki's quartet, the individual styles and sounds of four top Finnish musicians come together. Manuel Dunkel's tenor saxophone subtly complements Paakki's playing, while the rhythm section, with Antti Lötjönen on bass and Joonas Riippa on drums, creates a solid foundation for Paakki's hard-bop-influenced compositions.
