Mathias Sandberg Trio returns to Jyväskylä like the warmth and light of early spring! In the season opening concert, the band will present their tradition-conscious and cheerful blend of "hard swingin', groovy & soulful jazz."

Guitarist Mathias Sandberg has long been one of the driving forces of the vibrant jazz scene in Vaasa, both as a musician and as the artistic producer of club series. Trained in New York and Boston, the musician has toured Europe and the United States and collaborated with key figures in Nordic jazz. Over the years, the guitar trio, consisting of bassist Zacharias Holmkvist and drummer Stefan Brokvist, has become seamlessly cohesive. The band's debut album "The Doctor" (2020) received great reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2023, they released a new album titled "The Captain," which has been well-received, with critics praising its swinging, intimate, and rich qualities.
