Founded in Jyväskylä in 2015, Odd Brew is a fusion ensemble collecting musical ingredients from genres such as progressive rock, mainstream pop, classical music, folk music, and traditional music of West Africa. All ingredients are thoroughly marinated in jazz enzymes, maturing into a surprising and boisterous concoction. Keyboard player Santeri Kaipiainen is responsible for the ensemble’s original compositions and new arrangements of borrowed material. The quintet serves up a brew which is best enjoyed with fresh ears.

”Jazz Guitar - Rock Attitude!” This slogan describes Varre Vartiainen’s effervescent persona and guitarism to a tee. His versatility as a player, paired with his rock and roll attitude, have created a solid base for a career inhabiting both rock and jazz scenes in an exceptional way. Released last spring, Vartiainen’s new album Almost Standards is stylistically closer to traditional jazz expression.

Raoul Björkenheim Triad proposes an expressionist musical direction for the jazz guitar trio, fusing visceral energy with a nordic melodic lyricism. Compositions by the guitarist allow a multitude of interpretations, encouraging the musicians to follow non-linear paths towards the unexpected. The trio also creates purely improvised sections which go right to the edge. Triad released its aptly-titled debut CD “Beyond” in 2017.

Ville Lähteenmäki Trio is based in the port city of Trondheim on the Norwegian North Sea coast. The musicians take their cue from jazz icons of the 1960s and 1970s such as Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler, Archie Shepp and Alice Coltrane. The band's music is a mesmerizing mix of intense interplay, powerful melodies and far-reaching improvisations.

Ville Lähteenmäki Trio consists of leading young jazz musicians. Ville Lähteenmäki plays his main instrument bass clarinet, Nicolas Leirtrø bass and Trym Saugstad Karlsen drums.

Kokkola Sea Jazz 2022. The event week held in the last week of July brings an interesting program to the seaside town of Kokkola from Tuesday 26.7. until Saturday 30.7.

Salsa Coruno Del Norte is a cuban-style salsaband from Oulu. The band plays traditional finnish music, arranged by the band-leader Tapio Maunuvaara. Leadsinger, Jari Marjala, is known as a tango- and pop-singer around the Finland.
