Halme Prospekt was originally formed to perform compositions by reedsman Hepa Halme. On their new album, however, they have taken steps to a stylistically more varied direction, combining strong melodic lines with free improvisation and electro-acoustic soundscapes.

Timo Lassy, one of the leading Finnish jazz artists, issued his fourth studio album, Love Bullet, toward the end of May 2015. The release was accompanied by two launch concerts in the sax man’s home town, Helsinki, both of which sold out in advance. The eagerly-awaited next performance takes place on 7 October in the august setting of Aleksanterin teatteri.

Along with the new album, Lassy continues his convincing ascend to bigger and bigger leagues; unarguably he belongs to the internationally most respected Finnish jazzers of the moment. Love Bullet came out on German label Membran/MustHaveJazz, and its stylish and robust soul jazz has convinced audiences especially in Germany, France and the UK. 

Melodic, swinging and energetic, the album is a distillation of the core ingredients of Lassy’s music. But with such names as Georgios Kontrafouris (wurlitzer), Antti Lötjönen (bass), Teppo Mäkynen (drums) and Abdissa Assefa (percussion) it is hardly a surprise that this tight-knit ensemble is best enjoyed live.
