The Linnajazz Club in May will be conquered by Kokko Quartet, a jazz band founded in 2010 in Helsinki.

Kokko Quartet has performed at the most important domestic festivals (e.g. Pori Jazz, Flow Festival) and toured in Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic, among others. From the very beginning, it was clear that the band's music couldn't be compartmentalized, it slipped lightly across musical genre boundaries.

The name of the band contains a reference to Kalevala poetry, where Kokko means giant eagle. There are also many references to Nordic lyricism in the band's music, the melodies have both airiness and depth. However, inspiration and influences have come from Indian and Arabic music as well as Cuban rhythms. The interest in free expression and jazz as well as world music unites the members of the band.

Kokko Quartet has released two albums Like A River (2013) and Orient Express (Eclipse Music 2016). Both received attention and good reviews in both domestic and international media. Kokko Quartet's third album Broken Dream was released under Eclipse Music in early April.
