PUHTI

Juho Laitinen: cello
Pepa Päivinen: soprano and baritone saxophone, flutes
Jorma Tapio: alto saxophone, bass clarinet, flute, bass flute

PUHTI is a new "chamber band" with two woodwind musicians and a cellist. The band’s musicians have a strong background in jazz, improvised music and classical music.

The joint playing history of Pepa Päivinen and Jorma Tapio dates back to the legendary Edward Vesala Sound & Fury band from the 80's and Juho Laitinen played in Pepa Päivinen Quintet. The band’s music is rich in timbre and interesting, with carefully composed works to intuitive improvisation. The compositions are entirely the band's own production. Different wind instruments make the sound rich and dynamic.
