International jazz singer Elena Mindru has enriched the Finnish music scene for almost a decade with her charismatic performances. She is a Montreux Voice Competition awardee in Switzerland in 2012, awarded by a jury presided by the legendary producer Quincy Jones. Since then, her career has been on the rise. She has released four albums under her own name, the fourth one in August 2021.

Elena Mindru Finnection has Adam Baldych as their guest, one of Europe’s most famous jazz violinists. Finnection symbolises the connection with Finnish musicians, who act as the band’s main driving forces. Pianist Tuomas J. Turunen is responsible for the band’s compositions together with Elena Mindru. Their repertoire includes also one piece written by Baldych. The rhythmic section is completed by the talented musicians Oskari Siirtola on double bass and Anssi Tirkkonen on drums.

For Elena Mindru, the music on the new Hope -album is a step towards a more vocal and melodic expression. The songs have been influenced especially by pop, r & b and electronic music. As part of the band’s live performance, Mindru uses various effects and loopers in addition to the traditional vocal sound. The collaboration with Adam Baldych has been going on for two years now and has proven to be very fruitful. Baldych’s violin brings his own personal touch to the band’s music and acts as a bright soloist alongside Mindru and other band members. The album contains songs whose lyrics deal with the future prospects of humanity in a changing ecological environment as well as the challenges brought by globalisation (migration, disappearing livelihoods, robotisation).
