The trio features talent in multiple generations, sharing a common interest in improvisation. Mike Koskinen is a US resident, and rarely seen performing in his old homeland. Mikko Innanen is one of the most versatile and international jazz musicians. The link and the center of force here is the grand old man, one of the cornerstones in Finnish jazz history, bassist Teppo Hauta-aho.

The Cellar Trio was born in Teppo Hauta-aho's cellar, when Mike Koskinen was visiting Finland the previous time. The Trio presents spontanous improvisation. The three jazz musicians are from three different generations know each other well so when a tune is started from very few themes, the music will fly with long spans. Everybody listens and is ready to investigate new sounds and possibilities of improvisation - spiced up with high professionalism.

Mike will play an electric MIDI trumpet developed in Australia and it is developed with co-operation with top jazz trumper player James Morrison.

All the jaZZanti concerts begin at 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm), in Restaurant Laulumiehet, Hietaniemenkatu 2, 00100 Helsinki. Paulus Schäfer and Olli Soikkeli played together for the first time in January 2012 on the Djangofollies Festival in Belgium. A couple of months later Hot Club d’Europe was a fact by the recording of the bands first cd: ‘Kouvola Junction’. Paulus and bassist Arnoud van den Berg came to Finland and during two afternoon sessions they nailed a set of fresh sounding songs including Finnish evergreens, gypsy tunes and jazz classics.

Since the release of the album in the summer of 2012 the trio is touring around Europe. The power of this trio is besides the fabulous and virtuoso playing, the interaction between the two soloists, who challenge each other to bring out the best of themselves.

In this mini tour bassist Arnoud van der Berg is replaced by Tero Tuovinen.
