Tanssii kanssa ajan – Vanhaa ja uutta Suomi-iskelmää: UMO solisteinaan Jukka Perko ja Yona,Kanneltalo, helsinki9.10. At 19:00

Conductor Kari Heinilä

The ‘Dances with time’ concept was received with enthusiasm early in the year and is therefore being reprised in the autumn. Sax player Jukka Perko, a major name in Finnish jazz, and the idiosyncratic young singer and songwriter Yona will bring the moods and nostalgia of Finnish schlagers to Kanneltalo and Malmitalo in October 2013. The concert is a charming combination of beloved tunes and the wistful dance-pavilion atmosphere of Yona’s music.

The programme includes very familiar titles such as Akselin ja Elinan häävalssi and Hiljainen kylätie, newly arranged by Vellu Halkosalmi. They are joined by Yona’s own music such as Kellon alla and Panssarivaunu, arranged for large jazz band for this production. UMO will be conducted by Kari Heinilä.

“An enchanting blend of schlagers and jazz.” – Jukka Hauru / Helsingin Sanomat, 2 March 2013

Quartet Coyote is still the only five-man quartet in Finland and mainly plays Ape Anttila’s ‘slightly crazy’ jazz tunes. The music is a playful battle between the members of the band, in which the virtuoso soloists showcase their skills.
