Young and rising jazz stars show their talent when Maan tila and Maja Mannila Trio perform at G Livelab on 10.9.

Maan Tila is a new emerging jazz ensemble from Helsinki, Finland. The band was founded by vibraphonist/composer Mikko Antila from the will of finding like-minded musicians and to play emotional, composition-focused material. The band's sound is inspired by modern New York style of jazz, taking elements of broken improvisational parts, and also chamber music, to focus on long compositional ideas supported by deliberate parts in the songs. The quintet's timbre is very open and bright and breathes beautifully.

Maja Mannila is a young and impressive jazz/soul singer, pianist and composer. Together with her band she performs her own songs in English, in a style combining r'n'b, soul, jazz and gospel. She grew up in a musician family and has a steady grip of musicianship, but at the same time she points out the importance of freedom and fun when it comes to creating and playing music. In the future Mannila strives towards recording and performing internationally both with her ensemble and as solo artist. Maja's talent has also been spotted by English drummer Richard Spaven and singer Anthony Strong, who have invited Maja to perform with them. She also plays keyboards and sings in the young and rising ensemble Peela. In Maja Mannila Group she plays together with Severi Sorjonen (drums) and Johannes Granroth (bass).
