Kari Ikonen – Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions
Kari Ikonen – grand piano, Maqiano

Kari Ikonen's solo piano repertoire Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions is released in August 2020 by the German label Ozella Music. The Kandinsky-influenced album consists of Ikonen's compositions and improvisations, which bring out the whole sound pallet of a grand piano. Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions also presents Ikonen's new, mysterious, self-made tool called Maqiano.

Tatu Rönkkö: Percussions and sampler

Drummer Tatu Rönkkö and guitarist Kalle Kalima played together for the first time in the mountains of South Tyrol, at the Alto Adige festival, which had set them up to a ‘blind date’ gig with singer Andreas Schaerer. Both had left Finland to live abroad at different times, so it was a natural meeting place for free improvisation. Enthusiastic about the experience, they played some gigs in Berlin and Hamburg as a duo. Their joint musical direction was condensed into a free and spontaneous collective of compositions, which orientate towards minimal rock and electronic music.

In a session recorded at the Zentrifuge studio in Berlin, the duo created a peculiar world of hypnotic melodies.
