Free entry

Heini Mielonen is a very versatile cellist, singer, composer and lyricist. In the field of music, Mielonen moves sovereignly from one genre to another and also uses multi-artistic elements in his work, such as poetry, drama and visual arts.

The Heini Mielonen Quintet members are Heini Mielonen cello/vocals/effects/looper, Johannes Granroth/guitar, Timo Tuppurainen/bass, Kimmo Salminen/drums and Antti Utriainen/keyboards. All the members of the band are Finland's leading jazz musicians. They are all fascinated by by the desire to venture into symphonic jazz worlds with a slightly more unusual instrument lineup.

Heini Mielonen's Step Forward! album's music and the compositions wander from atmosphere and instrument from one composition to another - feelings are sought from symphonic acoustic-electronic sounds to the passionate chachacha rhythms of art latino music, from ethereally melancholic and lonely cellolooping sounds to hypnotic and groovy jazz tones. Neoclassical visual and cinematic tones can often be heard In her compositions. Mielonen is very much fascinated with the nature of the sound, which she explores through her instruments, cello and singing.

Mielonen is also artistic director of the Architecture Meets Music consert series and composes inspirated by interesting architectural environments.
