Hietsu is Happening! event series presents a rare concert by the legendary Dutch drummer Han Bennink. Bennink is considered one of the biggest trendsetters of his generation in the field of European jazz and improvised music, but also known from his work with jazz greats such as Sonny Rollins and Ben Webster.
On November 30 Bennink will perform in a special concert together with Finnish saxophonist Mikko Innanen and bassist Antti Lötjönen. On the same evening Hietsu is Happening! will also present world class contemporary music. The iconic main piece Rebonds I percussion solo by mathematician, architect and composer Iannis Xenakis will be accompanied by fascinating old and new contemporary music by George Crumb, Halim El-Dabh and Alyssa Weinberg.
