Kalevi Hämäläinen Group plays energetic and positive jazz fusion and is lead by Kalevi Hämäläinen, pianist-composer from Joensuu. The debut album of this 2015 established band, First Days of Summer, was published in spring 2020.
The band comes originally from Savonlinna, and their music is characterized by positivity and exuberance. The unique sound of the group has appealed to jazz and prog-oriented crowds alike. Several tracks from their debut album have been broadcast both in Finland and internationally, and the same applies to many positive album reviews.

Mirja Mäkelä Trio, which consist of giants of Finnish jazz, was originally founded in 2006. Praised for its personal and fresh compositions, interesting arrangements, and immediate and captivating atmosphere, the band mainly performs singer Mirja Mäkelä's own compositions, which are based on i. a. the works of domestic poets. Mäkelä has used the poems of Kirsi Kunnas, Sanna Karlström and Heimo Hatakka in her composition work.
Mirja Mäkelä Trio released a new album So Far, So Me at the April Jazz festival on 29 April 2022. The publisher is the Finnish Eclipse Music. Now the trio arrives in Oulu on their album release tour, and their concert will be heard at RioLive as part of the OMJ Jazz & Etno series on Wednesday 16 November 2022.
The concert is part of a tour co-produced with the Finnish Jazz Federation (Suomen Jazzliitto), and it is a part of Jazz Finland Carbon-Neutral Tour Model project.
