Setting poems to music has always intrigued composers. In this concert, we will hear composer-trumpeter Tero Saarti’s new pieces based on poetry by two celebrated Finnish writers: P. Mustapää and Aale Tynni.
– Drawing upon Aale Tynni’s and P. Mustapää’s works has lent me a new approach to developing my musical language as a composer. Many of the two great poets’ pieces are like stories about their shared love and life, and it is this angle that I have tried to bring forth in my musical renditions, says Saarti.
On stage, the poems will be interpreted by vocalists Annimaria Rinne and Juha “Jay” Kortehisto, backed by UMO Helsinki Ensemble and special guests violinist Minna Pensola and musical multi-talent Riku Niemi.
