Signe
Bowman Trio

Signe is a quartet of four women -- three vocalists and a double bassist -- who in this concert plunge into the works of the Greek women poet, Sapho (circa 630-570 AD). Modernist poet Pentti Saarikoski's Finnish translations add a new layer to these ancient lyrics of love and longing; while Signe interprets them in yet a new way -- in the language of jazz.
Bowman Trio
This group's music imagines and recreates the person and adventures of Johan Bowman -- a man moved from his native Sweden to the U.S. in the 1950s; climbed Mount Everest; escaped Erwin Rommell in Sahara and worked for CIA.
Tomi Nikku, trumpetti
Joonas Tuuri, kontrabasso
