Jazz Finland Live

The first lady of Finnish jazz, Aili Ikonen, brings out a new album this April. For her third album Ikonen has drawn from both the Great American Songbook and Finnish pioneering jazz singers, such as Laila Kinnunen. 

Comprised of new pieces and a few hand-picked loan songs in new Finnish translations, the album lyrics from some of Finland's foremost lyricists, including Timo Kiiskinen and Kanerva Pasanen. The tracks have been penned by the leading lady and the group's bassist, Mikko Pellinen. 

The third effort forms a natural continuum with Ikonen's two previous, acclaimed ones: a collaborative album with the group HERD, Jazzbasilli delved into the goldmine of Finnish jazz-schlager; while Tribute to Ella paid homage to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald.

Orchestra Nazionale della Luna is a collaboration between Finnish pianist Kari Ikonen and Belgian Saxophonist Manuel Hermia. The international quartet's eccentric repertoire, versatile instrumentation and highy energetic performance is sure to conquer audiences where ever they go. Orchestra Nazionale della Luna will release their debut album in the spring of 2016.
