Kenneth Sjöwall’s Dixie Dudes play traditional dixie music in their own fresh way. The band interprets dixie-favorites and arrangements of classic songs out of their own genre. When this line up is not on the stage you can find them from symphony concerts, rock and jazz clubs or theatre stages. On top of their energetic set list they will also perform some of the greatest Christmas songs.

Jazz pianist Joonas Haavisto who recently joined the highly recognized Steinway Artist group is performing his new material in the chapel of Saariselkä. We’re going to hear his own composition along with arrangements from George Gershwin's and Paul McCarteney’s songs. These beautiful melodies were born by the sea and with the waves of rhythms they build a perfect dynamic island leaving it wide open for the improvisation.

Naftule is an energetic cocktail of jazz, klezmer, latin and cabaret. Even though based in the Netherlands, the band’s line up is very international. Thus, a combination of musical styles is a given. The music tells stories of these different backgrounds that connect with the audience throughout the concert. Naftule is working on a second album, this time inspired by the culture of Andalusia. Flamenco, copla and sefarid music combined with the Naftule’s style.

Niillas Holmberg & Roope Mäenpää
Arctic folk music in North Sami language. It is born when musician-poet who combines singer&songwriter-style meets classical music composer and multi-instrumentalist. The music of Niillas Holmberg and Roope Mäempää brings you the beauty and ruggedness of Sami nature, Sami philosophy and beliefs and on top of it all the wonderment of the endless need for ownership in the Western man.
Duo will perform on Saturday in Aurora Hut in the middle of amazing nature of Lapland. Also, they will perform with the Naftule’s Band later on the same day. Closing concert of Polar Night Jazz will take place on Sunday and we will see Niillas and Roope on the stage with a string quartet.
Aurora hut is located at the marked trail Aurorapolku, near the center of Saariselkä. The walking distance to the hut is about 700m from the Saariselkä starting gate to hikes.
