Jazz Finland Live

American tenor saxophonist Joshua Redman (b. 1969) is one of the foremost forces pushing modern jazz forward and into the future. His visits to Finland have been infrequent and even more rare are the times you’ll find him playing with a big band. This April he comes to Helsinki and plays with Umo Jazz Orchestra.

Redman, who plays and records primarily with his own trio, has worked with all the big players on the scene, from Quincy Jones and Chick Corea to Branford Marsalis and The Bad Plus, with whom he released his latest album last summer.

Redman names legends like John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Ornette Coleman as his musical inspirations and their influence can be heard in his music to this day.
