Internationally respected saxophonist Darius Jones represents the creative and new sound of jazz. Jones arrives from New York to Helsinki as a guest of the We Jazz festival to celebrate the label's new release. In addition to the festival, Jones performs with a real special line-up with drummer Teppo Mäkynen and double bass player Antti Lötjönen in Hämeenlinna.
The New York Times chose Jones's concert as one of the best jazz gigs of the year in 2017. In 2019, the prestigious Down Beat magazine awarded Jones the New Artist of the Year. In New York jazz circles, Jones is known as a constructive central figure and an open-minded developer of new music.
The concert together with Mäkynen and Lötjönen certainly offers a unique and inspiring adventure in jazz. Suisto's brilliant setting and atmosphere offer everything essential for this championship-level meeting for both players and the public. The club is located a short walk from Hämeenlinna train station.
