Drummer Jaska Lukkarinen's new solo project One For Joe is a tribute to jazz drummer Philly Joe Jones, best known for his work as the drummer of the Miles Davis Quintet from 1955 to 1958. However, the concert will primarily feature music that Jones recorded for other artists, such as Freddie Hubbard, Donald Byrd, and J.R. Montrose, between 1956 and 1961. The songs to be performed contain inspiring melodic and rhythmic elements that bridge the gap between the 1950s and today.

Musically, One For Joe is unique in the Finnish jazz scene, thanks to Lukkarinen's familiarity with Philly Joe Jones and the material he is presenting. The concert promises irresistible swing, energetic accompaniment, imaginative solos, and ensemble play inspired by the 1950s. In addition, there will be stories and anecdotes from Philly Joe Jones's career.

One For Joe is part of Lukkarinen's own artistic doctoral degree program, which focuses on the drummer's accompaniment and ways to create musical energy.
