Jazz Finland Live

The Joonas Tuuri Quartet is known for its clear modern sound and infectious groove. The band will arrive in Espoo as part of the Finnish Jazz Federation's tour and will also open the program of the April Jazz Club at the new concert venue called Kupla, located next to Tapiola Cultural Square.

Originally from Kitee and with a long-standing presence in the jazz circles of Helsinki, bassist Joonas Tuuri has become known for his work in bands such as JAF Trio, Bowman Trio, and Selma Juudit Alessandra. Dimensions, released by Eclipse Music in 2022, is Tuuri's debut album as a bandleader. The expression of the Joonas Tuuri Quartet, featured on the album and on the tour, is strongly melodic and echoes the acoustic jazz of Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter from the 1960s, seasoned with a distinctive northern twist. The album has gathered over two million streams on Spotify, featuring the popular tracks "November," selected for the Coffee Table Jazz and Relaxing Jazz Piano playlists.

The concert will begin with a performance by the pop/jazz line of the Espoo Music Institute's Ebeli at 6:00 PM. Pianist Pessi Heiskanen, bassist Vilma Ervasti, drummer Asla Heiskanen, and saxophonist Joonatan Linkola will be performing in singer Armi Lampela's band.

Tickets are priced at €15 + handling fees (starting from €1.50, lippu.fi) and are available for purchase at Lippu.fi sales points, via phone service, and online. Tickets will also be sold at the door if the concert is not sold out in advance.
