Welcome to a double concert with these these two fantastic bands, Finnish-Icelandic-Swiss Equally Stupid and Danish Alex Jønsson Trio. This is the final concert of their Nordic tour.
Icelandic/Finnish/Swiss Equally Stupid is a powerful and energetic jazz trio founded by Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson, Pauli Lyytinen and David Meier. The music is furious and intense yet melodic and it ́s built on imaginative compositions and rhythmical layers. Their critically acclaimed debut Exploding Head was released by Finnish label Eclipse Music in February 2014. The second album Escape From The Unhappy Society was released on Eclipse Music in January 2017 and was followed by a wide tour in Finland and Estonia.

In 2013, Alex Jønsson was nominated for "Best New Jazz Act" at the Danish Music Awards. Now, the acclaimed guitarist is back with a new trio which makes your hair stand on end. Along with Jens Mikkel Madsen on double bass and Andreas Skamby on drums, Jønsson creates an intimate musical universe, which effortlessly sneaks up on the listener.

The quintet plays modern swinging jazz composed by the young-generation, Helsinki-born trumpeter-composer Martti Vesala. Formed in 2011, the quintet comprises young Finnish top professionals in jazz. Their key style icons are the dynamic 1960s groove of Miles Davis’ quintet, experimental American jazz from the same period and the elegant melodic language of saxophonist-composer Wayne Shorter.
