Italian jazz singer, vocal virtuoso and multiple award-winner Roberta Gambarini (born in 1972) visits Finland and features UMO Jazz Orchestra in Savoy Theatre in November.

This swinging jazz vocalist with a pure voice and silky phrasing, vocal tone and perfect intonation combined with ear for harmony makes her one of the greatest singers of all time. It has been said that Gambarini is a true successor to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae and she is praised to be no less than the best singer to emerge in the last 50 years.

Ms Gambarini has worked not only with her own trio but also Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock, Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove, to mention a few.

Her first album, Easy to Love, was nominated for a Grammy Award, as was her third, So in Love, which was also awarded the Grand Prix du Jazz Vocal 2009 by the Jazz Academy of France. She was twice named the “Female Jazz Singer of the Year” by The Jazz Journalists Association 2007 & 2009.
