The 2023 spring season of the Oulu Music Festival's year-round Jazz & Etno concert series begins in January with a concert by an international jazz ensemble. Olli Hirvonen Trio will be heard at RioLive on Wednesday 25 January 2023.

Multiple Grammy nominee and one of the most prominent guitarists in fusion jazz, Mike Stern will start SaloJazz's 2023 concert series.

Stern, who rose to world fame in the 80s in Miles Davis' band, has an iconic sound that perfectly combines the power of rock emanating from Jimi Hendrix and smooth jazz harmonies on the other hand. Mike Stern is also known for his work with Blood, Sweat and Tears and Steps Ahead. The second guitar is played by Stern's wife Leni Stern, who was named one of the best female guitarists of all time by Guitar Player magazine in 2017. Together with the duo, a great Finnish trio, saxophonist Joonatan Rautio, bassist Timo Hirvonen and drummer Jussi Lehtonen will perform in Salo.
