Jukka Perko Trio

Saxophonist Jukka Perko celebrates the 100th anniversary of his great role model Charlie Parker by playing the man's music in an intimate trio line-up in Iisalmi.
Jukka Perko's own career started like a rocket as a member of the Dizzy Gillespie orchestra. The traditional awareness of jazz, obtained directly from the source, is at the heart of Jukka's artistry.
Perko is a great storyteller, both with and without a saxophone. Book your place for an evening with the master!

Masa Orpana Honk brings the joy and diverse rhythms of roots music to a contemporary jazz environment. The band's trump card is a section of three saxophones, accompanied by a pulsating rhythm section in the spirit of New Orleans. The band's music combines African-American roots music with the language of jazz in the form of advanced improvisations, own compositions and honed arrangements. Originally founded in 2012, Honk has performed at gigs mostly as a quartet, with Masa Orpana being the only saxophonist. The expanded band played their first gig in a crowded club in the winter of 2020. The new line-up will record Orpana’s new music in the summer of 2020. The recordings are scheduled for release in the spring of 2021.

Live jazz in Kulttuurikellari at Friday 2nd of October
Tomi Kämäräinen Trio performs their own originals and tasteful arrangements of jazz standards at Savonlinnan Kulttuurikellari. The trio was founded by Tomi Kämäräinen when he moved back to Kuopio from Copenhagen. He asked his longtime band mate Samuel Huhtahaara for guitar and their mutual friend Hermanni Tahvonen to bass. The trio handles music with a tasteful and modern touch. Guitar driven open soundscape brings out the distinctive acoustic sound of each instrument. The songs are influenced by the 90's modern jazz and free improvisation.
Tomi Kämäräinen Trio previously performed via a livestream in last June at Maxim, Kuopio. Tomi Kämäräinen is also known from his ensembles Case Kämäräinen and New New Trio ft. Kari Antila
