Jazzliiton kiertueella/On FJF Tour: Alexi Tuomarila Trio,Taidemuseo Veturitalli, salo3.12. At 18:00

keikka

Alexi Tuomarila Trio saw daylight in 2004 and their debut album Constellation was released on Norwegian Jazzaway Records the following year. The trio was touring intensely back then in Norway, Finland and the Benelux countries. Tuomarila's, among other trio members, career took a flight then and the cosmopolite band leader claimed reputation and awards in piano competitions in Monaco, Granada, Avignon and Brussels. The Observer magazine picked Tuomarila among six jazz musicians to keep an ear on in the future.

The release of their second album took eight years, due to musicians being extremely occupied with their other projects. Tuomarila and Louhivuori had their hands full in Tomasz Stanko's band and Eilertsen in Tord Gustavsen's trio. Also the musicians own projects like Louhivuori's acclaimed Oddarrang and Mats Eilertsen Quartet took time from the trio work. Still the artists met on stage from time to time in pairs or all together, and in 2012 it was time for a new rise of the "future stars". Alexi Tuomarila made a three-album contract with the British Edition Records, who also represent Oddarrang among other familiar names to us Finns. The first record of the triple-deal  was Seven Hills that came out in 2013. On Seven Hills the trio sounds mre full and balanced than ever, and the album got positive reviews all over the press.

Now the trio returns to Finland to play new material in ten concerts. This is the best chance to sneak-peak some of the secret tracks that will probably find their way to their next album.

Tuomas Paukku Scription

keikka

The Jyväskylä-based composer-guitarist celebrates his debut by hitting the road in late November. The tour will also see him present his newly-assembed, stellar group.

Independent Finnish record label Eclipse Music issues guitarist-composer Tuomas Paukku's debut album on vinyl and digitally on 25 of November. The band performing Paukku's music on the record is a Finnish-Swedish group Tuomas Paukku Description, while the album-lauch tour, taking place on 24 November - 4 December, will see Paukku hit the road with his new Finnish group, Tuomas Paukku Scription. Having pianist Artturi Rönkä, bassist Janne Tuovinen and drummer Tomi Saikkonen join the leader-guitarist, Tuomas Paukku Scription takes up where the Swedes left off. The musicians stand in the frontline of a young and vital generation in Finnish jazz, interpreting Paukku's distinctive music with intense passion.

The roots of Paukku's music can be found in the modern European jazz impressionism, but not without seeking new landscapes and dimensions by bending the borders of different musical genres without hesitation. "I wanted a new and Finnish group. Here it is", the leader summarises. On the tour, new compositions will be heard alongside with the material of the album.

Tuomas Paukku, guitar
Artturi Rönkä, piano and rhodes
Janne Tuovinen (Vesa Ojaniemi on 3 and 4 Dec), double bass
Tomi Saikkonen, drums
