Metropolia Big Band featuring guest vocalist Nat Newborn. Conductor Erno Tiittanen.

This Swinging Christmas concert features big band swing, 60's bogaloo and tender ballads. The big bnd will be playing both jazz standards and music from Red Hot Christmas, by the leading vocalist. Sharing the stage with Nat and the orchestra will be Metropolia Music students Veera-Selina Lajoma, Annika Mustonen and Petri Söderlund.

Standard ticket 10 € / students, senior citizens and unemployed 5 €.

Come and experience the best Christmas party of the year at the stunning Teatteri Forum with the dazzling Dizzy Queens!

Dizzy Queens consist of six charming and multi-talented women, whose performance is filled with playful humour and sparkling happiness. The Jazz Up Your Christmas show will be about entertainment, exquisite music and warm Christmas atmosphere, consisting of such classic numbers as "Some Like It Hot", "Fever", "Lets Do It", "When You're Good to Mama" -- without forgetting the more christmassy evergreens  like "Let It Snow" and "Santa Baby".

Composer-pianist Pekka Toivonen presents his new concert My Sins this Christmas. As the title suggests, themes of the piece are big, ranging from life, death, hope and despair to power, weakness, loneliness and sense of belonging. Partly improvised, My Sins is closely related to Toivonen's multi-medial piece My Signs, premiered at the same venue last spring. 

This concert will also see the first performance of Pekka Toivonen Ensemble, featuring Finnish top musicians Teemu Keränen on the double bass, Ilkka Ferm on the soprano and tenor saxophones, and Hannu Kropsu on the electric guitar. As a special guest they have multi-instrumentalist Johanna Tarkkanen joining their ranks.

Capping the autumn season of Flame Jazz and Turku Jazz Orchestra will be a show that has its left foot in the past and right foot in the 2010s. The evening will be opened by the internationally acclaimed Aki Rissanen Trio, performing distinguishably contemporary jazz. After the trio, we will be given a fine cross-section of master drummer Mel Lewis's big band music, perfomed by Turku Jazz Orchestra and guest soloist, Finland's number one drummer Teppo Mäkynen.
