Omniverk is a new instrumentbased on Leonardo da Vinci’s blueprint. This is a unique chance to hear the instrument which sounds like lute and viola da gamba played simultaneously. Aki Rissanen is just the right artist to summon a wide variety of sounds from the instrument, including renaissance music by Guillaume de Machaut and Carlo Gesualdo, plus improvised music – the key content at Viapori Jazz.

Finnish star pianist Iiro Rantala is joined here by the Danish vocalist Cecilie Norby and the Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson. The trio, each recording for the famed German label ACT Music, show just how great Nordic jazz is right now. Evidence of this can be heard on Norby & Danielsson’s duo album “Just the Two of Us”, released in 2015.
