Jazz Finland Live

Drummer Jaska Lukkarinen’s trio takes on a new challenge: during We Jazz they will be playing music by composer Valtteri Pöyhönen arranged for a trio. The concert will be recorded live for a possible future record. It will be interesting to see how tracks made for bands like six person Dalindèo or the huge Ricky Tick Big Band are repurposed for a trio. The composer Pöyhönen will also be a part of the performance with the trio acting as his instrument.

Singer Annika Mustonen leads her quartet which plays vocal jazz with a distinctive touch. They recently released the wonderful EP Le Lac and are a group in Finnish jazz worth keeping an eye on.

The We Jazz DJ collective consists of Eero Löyttyjärvi and Matti Nives with occasional visits by friends. Their record bag is filled with jazz sounds from the beginning of the genre to this day with a special focus on the raw sound of 60’s club jazz. Löyttyjärvi can be hard on Saturdays between 2 and 4 PM on Bassoradio’s programme Lauantaijazzit. Nives is one of the hosts of Jazz kiinnostaa, which can be heard every Sunday at noon on Radio Helsinki.
