The third Jazz & Dance club edition features a star of the Finnish street dance scene, Sami Vallius. Compelling rhythms will be provided by Arttu Takalo Quartet.

Welcome aboard m/s Aava for a Jazz Dinner Cruise!

Strömma and Theron Catering invite you to enjoy the summer Friday onboard m/s Aava. The table is laid with delicious buffet food and swinging jazz tunes performed by a number of renowned Finnish jazz artists.

Departures every Friday from 3 July to 28 August at 6:00PM from the Market Square behind the Old Market Hall. The ship can be boarded starting from 5:30PM.

A flagbearer of free improvisation, drummer Chris Corsano first landed in Finland in summer 2005, just after the release of the cult recording, Steel Sleet, made in collaboration with saxophonist Paul Flaherty on Finnish label Tyyfus. On this visit, Corsano played his way into the hearts of the Finnish audience. In the past ten years the same has happened on a larger scale: Corsano’s uncompromised attitude and bursting energy have earned him a place in the vanguard of free jazz and experimental music.

To our delight, Corsano has performed on the Finnish soil relatively often, appearing on stage with such figures as Evan Parker and Joe McPhee. In Pori, Corsano will perform with Taco Bells sax player Sami Pekkola and double bassist Tero Kemppainen.
