Jazz Finland Live

Joonas Tuuri Quartet is in the capital area operaintg jazz bassist’s own group, founded in 2017. The band plays catchy and buoyant instrumental modern jazz and the compositions are written by Joonas. At the heart of the music are beautiful and captivating melodies, strong different moods, an urbane groove and a very finely honed interplay and improvisation. Sensitive communication between musicians always makes the music meander in a unique and unpredictable way. The band recorded their debut album in the spring of 2021 and will be released through Eclipse Music in March 2022 in the name Dimensions.

Peela consists of some of the finest upcoming jazz musicians in Helsinki, centering around the compositions of guitarist Johannes Granroth.

They draw influences from jazz, funk rock and neo soul to a blend where improvisation, powerful melodies, lush harmony and groovy rhythms play a central role. Their music is mostly instrumental, though at times enhanced by Maja Mannila’s virtuosic singing.

The band was founded in 2016 and along with actively gigging for nearly four years, Peela has released their debut album Layers in 2018, as well as their second album/ep Stepping Stones in 2020. They have managed to catch the attention of acclaimed musicians such as pianist Iiro Rantala, giving them a push in the right direction.
