Mopo, a trio of sax, bass and drums from Finland, has been on the radar of international tastemakers for a while already, thanks to their unique blend of punk, jazz and inspiration from Finnish nature. The trio of saxophonist Linda Fredriksson, bassist Eero Tikkanen and drummer Eeti Nieminen released their new album “Mopocalypse” in February 2018. Mopo’s last visit to Bremen was in 2016, when they charmed the professionals and the public at a showcase at jazzahead!.

Pauli Lyytinen Machinery

Pauli Lyytinen Machinery is a solo saxophone project that is built on textural compositions, extended saxophone techniques, soundscapes and layers. In a big part of the program, Lyytinen uses live effects to broaden the soundscape and orchestrate the music. Improvisation is constantly present on this musical journey. With his own groups, Lyytinen has done over 60 tours and played a great number of festival and club concerts in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America..

VIRTA is a Finnish instrumental trio, formed by Antti Hevosmaa, Heikki Selamo and Erik Fräki, which combines textures of Nordic jazz, electronica and post-rock with avantgarde sensibilities. Known for its modern electronic soundscapes and fierce live shows, the Helsinki-based band played a celebrated showcase concert as part of the Finnish Night during jazzahead! 2017. Since then, the three have played exciting concerts on other festivals throughout last year like Pori Jazz (Pori), Flow Festival (Helsinki) and Scope Festival | Nordic Jazz Comets (Berlin).
