Jazz Finland Live

Jukkis Uotila was described as “internationally most respected Finnish jazz artist ever”, by Cultural minister Paavo Arhinmäki, when he awarded Jukkis with Finland’s prestigious State Prize for Music in 2011. In Porvoo Jazz festival he will be seen on the opening concert of the festival. He will be playing with his quartet that will be featured by legendary jazz drummer Billy Hart who has been one of Uotilas mentors for many years. Since they met 1977 in Finland their paths have crossed many times over the years, in NYC and at many festivals.

"I had never played piano with him until 2012 when we did a concert in Helsinki and the event was such a success, that I was really anxious to get another chance to record our collaboration. Thus we now celebrate Herbie's 75th birthday with the release of "The Herbie Hancock
Legacy"."

Billy and Uotila will be joined by two excellent swedish musicians, Karl-Mrtin Almqvist on sax and Johnny Åman on
bass.

Jazz dinner à la Paleface & Chef Tsutsunen at the Porvoo Jazz Festival!

Start your Porvoo Jazz Festival evening early and in a delicious way by having dinner with rap artist Paleface and Chef Jyrki Tsutsunen. Rapper Paleface spins records to Chef Tsutsunen's tasty menu. The dinner will be served in co-operation with Cafe Rongo. 

Tickets 70 € include the dinner, and admission to the two evening concerts. After the concerts DJ Bunuel will be playing records and Sörkkä Steamin' Jazz Club will be hosting a  jam session.
