Gigs on the same day in helsinki
Helsingin Juhlaviikot: Afrocelt Sound System, Trad.Attack!Huvila-teltta, helsinki2.9. At 19:00

Electronic dance music, Western-African rhythms and traditional Celtic music with bagpipes blend seamlessly at the hands of Afro Celt Sound System. Founded by Simon Emmerson in 1995, the band demonstrates how the different flows of world music can come together to form a force greater than the sum of its parts.
Afro Celt Sound System is a live band like no other, and its reputation has been boosted by appearances on movie, television and video game soundtracks and by numerous DJ mixes. Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Sinéad O’Connor and other superstars looking for inspiration from world music have performed and recorded with the band.
The line-up taking the Huvila stage will include Gaelic rapper Griogair, Guinean kora virtuoso N’Faly Kouyaté and dhol drum master Johnny Kalsi, whom you may remember from the delightful Huvila gig in 2012 by Emmerson’s other band, The Imagined Village.
The evening starts off with what may be Estonia’s most promising world music talent, the lively Trad.Attack!
Trad.Attack! starts at 7 pm. Afro Celt Sound System starts at 8.30 pm.
