Johanna Försti is surely Finland's number one female soul voice. She has dazzled in recent years on TV and behind pseudonym Jo Stance, alongside super drummer Teppo Mäkynen. At Koko, we will be able to witness her vocal acrobatics through a varied gospel programme.
She will be backed by an experienced team: organist Mikko Helevä, bassist Arto Nurmi and percussionist Mamba Assefa.

Nicole Willis
Nicole Willis collaborates with UMO Jazz Orchestra and often collaborator Jimi Tenor for this special performance of songs composed (by Willis, Petri Toikkanen and Jimi Tenor) and arranged (by Jimi Tenor) specifically for UMO Jazz Orchestra.
Ms. Willis, known for her long relationship with The Soul Investigators (Happiness In Every Style, Keep Reachin’ Up) and continued collaborations with partner Jimi Tenor (Cola & Jimmu) wrote songs that are both dark and enlightening. Willis drew from her varied inspirations and visited the moods that are often excluded for the soul songstress.
Willis has been writing the songs that she has performed over the past 20 years. Showing no signs of slowing down, her songwriting abilities appear to be on the rise, after the extremely positive reception of the album Happiness In Every Style (2015, Timmion Records), having received a 5 star rating from Helsingin Sanomat and Soundi Magazine.
Petri Toikkanen, the prolific songwriter and guitarist of The Soul Investigators is once again writing with Willis as he continues to turn out soul surf and doom in his own unique way.
Jimi Tenor, who impressively scores and arranges big band music with his cinematic vision, is also working once again with Willis to create these original tracks as well as arranging for UMO some of the choice tracks from the Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators album, Happiness In Every Style such as the singles Together We Climb, Let’s Communicate and One In A Million.
This promises to be a rare and special night that they all come together with Finland’s finest UMO Jazz Orchestra.

Kari Ikonen ja Henrik Sandås – Kaksi sooloa ja duoMalmitalo, helsinki18.2. At 19:00
Two different musical worlds are introduced in the solo performances of both artists, followed by an amazing double act.
Sandås' unique solo bandoneon performance is based on Argentinian music. He is not only an impressive tango performer, but also a splendid improviser. Ikonen improvises on the piano and plays his own compositions, inspired by the music cultures of Europe, Africa, North America, the Middle East, Atlantis and the elliptical galaxies closest to planet Earth.
