Jazz Finland Live

Ohjus Trio is a new talented trio, formed by the young but experienced free jazz artists saxophonist Johannes "Ohjus" Sarjasto, drummer Ilmari Heikinheimo and bassist Vesa Ojaniemi. Their point of departure for artistic creation is to honour each member's unique musical background and original ideas and follow the red thread of improvisation, wherever it leads.

The members are knownf from such groups as Sound & Fury, Raoul Björkenheim Triad, Sakari Kukko SatieCutie, Soul Valpio band, Tape Machine, Kasperi Sarikoski Nuance, Uinuva and Alhos.

In the jaZZanti concert, Ohjus Trio will be joined by one of the cornerstones of Finnish free jazz, reedsman Jone Takamäki. Having been around since the 1980s, he is known for his own trio and from his presence in such bands as Raoul Björkenheim Krakatau, Otna Eahket and MA-A Trio. In addition to saxophones and flutes, Takamäki has concentrated on Japanese flutes shakuhachi and hochiku under the guidance his master Atsuya Okuda in recent years.
