Aki Takase and Han Bennink love the art of dialogue. The two are presenting a breathtaking and very entertaining programme, every tone reveals enjoyment and delight. Two personalities familiar with all traditions of jazz who love to go on an expedition. Aki Takase offers such wondrous compositions as Two For Two. The duo also reveals its great playfulness while playing standards by Thelonious Monk and Eric Dolphy. Han Bennink is swinging in the best New Orleans tradition while Aki Takase shows more and more of her poetical and melodic side.
Free jazz can be an earnest affair, but not with these two. Pianist Aki Takase and drummer Han Bennink have been playing together for years, and there’s an easy playfulness about everything they do.
