September 2018 will bring together top Finnish and international stars of jazz in the unique music happening - SavoyJAZZ.

Saxophonist Seamus Blake (born 1970), one of the most prominent artists in his generation, will perform at Savoy Theatre’s stage as a soloist in Sibis Alumi Big Band. Blake brings his own compositions and adaptations and acts as a conductor and saxophonist for the band. The vocalist is Diana Payton.
The legendary guitarist John Scofield called Blake "extraordinary, a total saxophonist". His music is known for its sophistication, bold improvisations and “sheer swagger".
Blake has released more than ten albums under his own name, including a superb album called Superconductor (2015). Blake is a regular performer for Mingus Big Band, Antonio Sanchez and Bill Stewart.

Sibis Alumni Big Band is a project group from the jazz department and consists of Sibelius Academy jazz music Masters of Music, current students, and teachers. The Alumni Big Band has been active since 2010, performing both new works and modern classic big band music. Past guest conductors and soloists include Bob Mintzer, Tim Hagans, John Scofield, Jim McNeely, Boris Kozlov and others.
