Recently emerged as a major Finnish jazz city, Turku is the home for many a talented Finnish jazzer today. Guitarist Ilpo Murtojärvi is no exception, releasing his debut album with a newish quartet this spring. The band-leader’s compositions boast an abundance of influences from the prog flings of his youth to swing-speeding. Be prepared for an adventurous ride – this lot will not slow down for the curves!

Band-leader Adele Sauros and guest soloist Max Zenger belong to the stars of Finland’s rising generation of sax players. Sauros brought out her solo album My Spontaneous Mind in late 2016 and has made a name for herself as an expressive artist and composer. At Espa, this fine group will tackle the material of the new album and lift it to new heights.
