Party People

keikka

Party People is a collaboration between 5 young musicians from Finland and Denmark who, on a basis of organic grooves and simple melodies, explores where their common intuition will bring them. All the compositions have in common that they were written and played by musicians who came to Europe in the middle of the 1960's and mingled with musicians on the European jazz scene: musicians from South Africa who were forced in exile by the apartheid (Dudu Pukwana, Louis Moholo-Moholo, Abdullah Ibrahim a.o.) and disillusioned American jazz musicians looking for new audiences (Eric Dolphy, Steve Lacy). Party People gives a new interpretation of these cultural meetings and the amazing music that they generated. Maybe the past can teach us something about the present?
