Baloji (www)

keikka

Baloji will get you shaking your stuff, and smiling. This Congo-born, Belgium-based musician’s dance groove is steeped in the French rap tradition as well as a veritable cornucopia of different styles, including reggae, soul, retro funk and much more. Baloji channels his energy from ancient Congolese rhythms, such as soukous and balafon. His music packs a powerful punch, conveying a young man’s deep sense of rootlessness and the many painful twists and turns of Congo’s past, but the tone is always light and joyous.

The ultra-stylish soul of Swede Sabina Ddumba has been enhanced with an electronic pop sound. Ddumba’s song ‘Scarred for Life’ was one of the biggest hits in Sweden last year, so it’s only a matter of time until this charismatic singer makes her international breakthrough.

Sabina Ddumba starts at 7 p.m. Baloji starts at 8.15 p.m.
Doors: 6 p.m.
