Jazz Finland Live

This summer, Helsinki's top purveyors of quality jazz bring four extraordinary sessions to mbar. Each of the four Tuesday nights will feature an A-list live act plus We Jazz DJs doing what they do best – serving you some raw jazz on vinyl.

The We Jazz Summer Sessions at mbar begin with a live performance by the 11-piece Mikko Sarvanne Hip Company, who will celebrate the release of their debut album. The ensemble is a collection of some of Finland's top young jazz talent and their live shows display Sarvanne's knack at creating memorable compositions, the band's effortless team play and their sheer joy of playing together. Mikko Sarvanne Hip Company was awarded the "We Jazz Rising Star" accolade in December 2014.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the Strandberg Project and their first album At the Music Box. The group's music explores the no-man's land between jazz and progressive rock where bridges are built with improvisation. Verneri Pohjola, one of the hottest names of Finnish jazz, features on the trumpet.
