Jazz Finland Live

In early 2013, Sid Hille composed music for Saara Cantelli’s film Ainoat oikeat. The romantic comedy received a fresh and coolly swinging jazz score, and it was decided that this music also needed to be performed live. Now, some of Finland’s foremost jazz musicians and Sid Hille will perform at Sello Hall with this new ensemble!

The music of the Sid Hille Film Collective combines traits of 1950s and 1960s cool jazz with Nordic jazz expression, and the melodic compositions give the top-class soloists room to demonstrate their improvisation skills.

Kahden Miehen Galaksi is a newcomer in the field of Finnish jazz. Seppo Kantonen mans the Hammond organ and Joonas Riippa plays the drums – this experienced combo aims beyond Earth’s musical atmosphere and creates its own kind of a big bang. The duo’s definition of the music is freebassjazzhoplounge – the guys drill, saw, nail and fuse their music into an infectious jazz installation. KMG released their debut album Um Jepa last year.
