Jazz Finland Live

Ville ja Valle is a colourful children’s music production based on the classic children’s album Muusa ja Ruusa created by Eero Koivistoinen in 1972. The production includes new versions of favourite settings of the poetry of Kirsi Kunnas from the original album, such as ‘Jussin talo’ (Jussi’s house), ‘Mistä on pienet pojat tehty?’ (What are little boys made of?) and ‘Muusa ja Ruusa’ (Muusa and Ruusa). New material includes lyrics contributed by Timo Kiiskinen, Mikko Perkoila and Jukka Itkonen. All the music is by Eero Koivistoinen.

The concert features the 17-piece UMO big band and singer Johanna Försti, who is known from the TV-show Tanssii tähtien kanssa (Dances with the stars), as soloist. The orchestra is conducted by composer Eero Koivistoinen.

The Ville ja Valle CD was released in September 2013, and features singer Vesa-Matti Loiri and rap-artist Gracias in addition to Johanna Försti and UMO. Part of the proceeds from the sale of every copy will be donated to the New Children’s Hospital 2017 campaign.

Everso stylish trio KVR (Kannaste-Viinikainen-Riippa) released their debut album for Jaskaa label in January 2013. The trio is led by tenor saxophonist Jussi Kannaste, accompanied by the critically acclaimed guitarist Teemu Viinikainen and Joonas Riippa, whose drumming is both intense and playful. This bold instrumentation combines edgy expression and a very tangible sense of humor. The KVR combination is a mixture of jazz tradition, imagination and the heat of the moment, creating a full ensemble cohesion in sound.

MOPO is a collective of three talented musicians from Finland. The energetic trio saw the daylight in the fall of 2009, when the musicians brainstormed as a result of a bar-fight. Mopo ("a moped") accelerates easily from zero to speed of light, but mostly the trio steps on the gas for a hilarious joyride in the countryside. The trio draws their inspiration from jazz, 70s punk and the Finnish nature. Each composition is born in the magic of the moment and Mopo's intense performances have stolen the hearts of their audiences all over the Finnish jazz club scene. In May 2011, Mopo won the Finnish tryouts of the Young Nordic Jazz Comets –competition and earned a huge amount of interest and attention in the finals held in Stockholm. Mopo released their debut album "Jee!" on Texicalli Records in the spring of 2012, and on the Finnish Jazz Federation tour it's time for their sophomore masterpiece. Heads up!
