In November, UMO will be hosting a gentleman soloist: Jamie Davis from the USA, singing an evening of American classics at the Korjaamo Culture Factory. Known as a captivating performer with a deep baritone voice, he will be appearing with UMO in a ‘Great American Songbook’ programme featuring Broadway classics and beloved jazz standards with a large jazz orchestra in true American style. Jamie Davis has previously appeared with UMO in 2007, charming audiences at Tapiola Hall and at Kotka Concert Hall.

Jamie Davis (b. 1949) is one of America’s finest jazz vocalists. He has appeared with the Count Basie Orchestra, Milt Jackson and Pharoah Sanders, to name but a few, and he is one of the favourite singers of jazz enthusiast Clint Eastwood. His repertoire is broad, ranging from Cole Porter evergreens to the quirky jazz of Charlie Mingus and the velvety soul of Stevie Wonder. He is described as a fine wine that keeps improving with age.
